So I Kinda like this blogging thing. I didn’t think I would. So the past few weeks have been so busy it seems! Summer is going way too fast. To update on a few highlights.
I really like my job this summer. Well, it is still incredibly boring and unchallenging, but the client I’m with is one of the coolest I’ve gotten to work with. I can’t describe it in detail because of HIPPA, but my client is 19 years old, a freshman in college. She is so fun and I already know I am going to miss her a lot when I go back to school. I spend the day with her and help her with personal care stuff. ;) Gets interesting. Two weeks ago, she went to a camp for physically disabled and I got to go with her and get paid! Let me tell you, it was so weird when I got there because even though I work with these type of people, every camper was in a wheelchair and had some type of brain injury or physical disability. As in they can’t even go to the bathroom by themselves. And I’m totally a germ freak so it disgusted me when they would pee all over themselves and then hug me. Plus, like any other normal person, I felt awkward around them because I didn’t want to stare and I didn’t know what to say. That was Monday. By Tuesday, I learned their names and actually talked to all the campers. These people are amazing. They were some of the kindest, most personable people I have ever talked to. They look so pitiful to me at first, you know? But once you Talk to each of them, they each have their own sense of humor and an amazing personality. They can’t walk, hold their own cups or poop by themselves. But they were so happy! They had the best attitudes and they encouraged each other constantly. I love to hear them laugh. I think I might be interested in working with them in the future. They make you feel like you’re the most amazing person in the world for helping them. It’s a nice feeling. ;) By Friday, I didn’t even mind their pee hugs. Of course, my Germ-X was on hand 24-7. Haha.

And so after that I went to NJ to visit my roomie for the night. She’s my bed buddy at school. ;) Every since I have had my license., I have been awful with directions. Really really awful. This was proven again on the trip to Seaville, NJ. To begin with, Mapquest said to turn left out of the driveway. I got a little confused and turned right which took me about, oh 15 miles in the wrong direction. ( I still don’t know right from left actually) The first in a series of frustrating wrong turns. I got that fixed and then drove on my merry little way until I got to Philly in rush hour. I love Philly- the busyness, the people, the cheesesteaks, the history, the freakin road signs that make no sense at all… So I missed my first turn and took a nice little tour through center city Philly, passing by the Liberty Bell and other areas of interest. Then I went over the Ben Franklin Bridge about, say, 4 times. Which cost me $20! An hour’s pay! The gas station lady didn’t know what she was talking about, neither did the homeless man I met on the street. And let me tell you, I might be pregnant from how hard Mapquest raped me that day. Haha. I’ll spare you the rest of the details, sufficing it to say I got totally lost in NJ. But all in all, after that completely disastrous trip, and the help of my roommates brother who had to bail me out, I made it. And we had a lovely time. Caught up on the boy news. Watched movies ‘til 3 am. So fun. One of the perks of college. ;)
I don’t want to bore you with 4 weeks of activities, because it will be ridiculously long. So I’ll end here and continue in my next entry.
